About The Position

Join our team as an Engineering Support Controls and Instrumentation Technician where you will team with highly skilled software programmers and controls engineers, working on projects from initial concepts, through full design and construction, to on-site commissioning to ensure fully operational facilities. In this role, you will be responsible for the construction of one-of-a-kind solutions using various types of control hardware and equipment. This position will provide you with an exciting opportunity to work on the fabrication of unique equipment from drawing package all the way to installation and commissioning at multiple facilities around the world. The Engineering Support section currently includes 6 talented full-time specialists working on many unique and challenging projects including quick turn-around projects ranging from a few hours to large multi-year projects with over 10,000 labor hours.

Requirements

  • Due to federal requirements for large portions of the assigned work, a US Citizenship is required for this position.
  • Two (2) years of related experience in instrumentation or two (2) years of formal training from a technical/trade school with emphasis in electrical, controls, instrumentation, computer science, or similar discipline is a plus.
  • Must show ability to learn operational knowledge of assembling, troubleshooting, maintaining, controls, data acquisition, or similar areas during the first 90 days of employment.
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Windows based PCs.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret electrical controls and instrumentation wiring diagrams, technical literature, and manufacturer's specifications or demonstrate the ability to learn to read and interpret these documents during the first 90 days of employment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a team environment.
  • Must have strong time management and organizational skills with ability to adapt to changing work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hardware assembly and fabrication of designed systems
  • Order control system components based on engineering requirements
  • Order instrumentation and sensors based on user or application requirements
  • Perform time and cost estimates of fabrication work
  • Review hardware assembly and wiring diagrams for control and data acquisition systems
  • Troubleshoot control system software in PLC ladder logic, function block, etc., if needed.
