About The Position

This position is responsible for the operation and accuracy of electronic monitoring and control equipment associated with Water Division assets and infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of experience in maintenance and repair of communication, electrical and/or control equipment, or related experience.
  • Candidates must have the minimum amount of work experience. Years of experience are based upon a full-time work schedule (2,080 hours per year). The sum of an applicant's full-time and/or part-time qualifying work experience must meet or exceed the stated minimum qualification. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.
  • Equivalent to an associate or vocational/technical school degree in Electrical or Industrial Control Sciences
  • The term "equivalent" means that directly related work experience exceeding the required work experience will substitute in equal one-year increments for college-level education (2 additional years for an associate degree and 4 additional years for a bachelor's degree).
  • Valid driver's license
  • Water Treatment Plant: Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Grade 1 Water Treatment System Operator Certification (must obtain within one year of hire)
  • Applicants considered for this job classification must pass the following:
  • Criminal history review
  • Post offer/pre-employment drug and alcohol screen.
  • Post offer/pre-employment physical

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, program, troubleshoot, calibrate, install, repair and maintain electrical and electronic monitoring components and communications and control systems.
  • Install wires and perform electrical work on systems up to 480 volts
  • Coordinate work and review work quality for vendors and contractors
  • Maintain inventory and procures parts and materials as needed
  • Assist with modifications to Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition software
  • May perform Plant Operator, Senior responsibilities related to water and wastewater treatment, when appropriately trained and certified
  • Document activities in asset management and workorder systems
  • May perform responsibilities of a similar nature and level as assigned
