About The Position

Alphanumeric is hiring an Instrument Controls Engineer to support an environmental-friendly energy innovator focused on sustainability and advanced power generation technologies. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working on large-frame gas turbine and combined cycle power plant projects , owning instrumentation scope from specification through commissioning. The Instrumentation & Controls Engineer will be responsible for: Specification and procurement of instrumentation for large frame gas turbines Creation and maintenance of all supporting instrumentation documentation Maintenance of gas turbine control logic documentation Supporting Project Engineering with customer instrumentation topics Supporting bid assessments and technical evaluations for new gas turbine projects

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • 3+ years of experience in Instrumentation & Controls, preferably in power plant or industrial environments
  • Experience with plant control systems and platforms such as: Netmation, MK5, MK6, Complicity, T3000, R3000, SIMATIC, Ovation, DeltaV
  • HMI / graphic screens and high-performance graphics
  • Instrumentation Experience (examples): Pressure transmitters, switches, gauges Control valves Thermocouples, RTDs Vibration, speed, position, LVDT Level instruments, positioners Calorie meters, CEMS, emissions systems
  • Plant Control / Systems Experience (examples): Balance of Plant (BoP) systems I/O count, I/O lists, signal interfaces, remote I/O, wiring Combined cycle plant operation High-performance graphics
  • Tools / Systems: SPI (SmartPlant Instrumentation), SmartPlant, SmartPlant 3D (nice to have)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) and SmartPlant 3D (S3D)
  • Participation in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs)
  • Field support for instrumentation installation
  • Startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting support
  • Root cause analysis and corrective action implementation

Responsibilities

  • Determine customer instrumentation and control contract requirements and delivery schedules
  • Create and maintain instrumentation procurement schedules
  • Develop instrument technical specifications and RFQs
  • Review and technically evaluate supplier quotes
  • Verify all instrumentation against system P&IDs and create instrument lists
  • Create and maintain instrument loops , datasheets, and drawings
  • Provide all design input documents required for I/O list creation
  • Interface with clients, suppliers, contractors, and internal project teams
  • Resolve customer comments on instrumentation and I&C drawings
  • Create and maintain I&C procedures and checklists
  • Provide troubleshooting and problem-solving support during project execution and at sites
  • Ensure compliance with applicable country-specific codes and standards
  • Interpret and apply standards such as ISA, ANSI/NEMA, NFPA, AGA , etc.
  • Support new vendor qualification when required
  • Perform other duties as assigned
