The College of Western Idaho (CWI) is seeking a full-time Philosophy Instructor to deliver engaging, student-centered instruction while contributing to curriculum development, institutional service, and a mission-driven academic community. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Philosophy or Master’s in a related field with at least 12 graduate semester hours in Philosophy (Ph.D. preferred)
  • 3+ years of post-secondary teaching experience in Philosophy
  • Strong communication skills, collegiality, and ability to work cooperatively
  • Ability to adapt instruction across lectures, group work, individual instruction, online formats, and technology-enhanced learning
  • Proficiency with standard technology tools (internet, email, word processing, spreadsheets, presentations)
  • Commitment to professional development and community college teaching
  • Availability to teach in hybrid and in-person modalities

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with instructional technology and online delivery preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain student-centered pedagogy designed for CWI’s diverse community college population
  • Continuously improve curriculum, content delivery, assessment methods, and student responsiveness
  • Establish and maintain a strong record of instructional excellence
  • Assist with course-level curriculum development and revisions
  • Build professional relationships to understand college systems, resources, and culture
  • Participate in service activities supporting both student and faculty success
  • Engage in department- and program-level initiatives, planning, and assessment
  • Support institutional goals through committee work and community involvement
  • Collaborate with supervisors to align professional skills and interests with student achievement
  • Commit to continuous improvement in teaching, learning, and disciplinary expertise
