Requirements

  • Master's degree in dental Hygiene from a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
  • Current, unencumbered Idaho dental hygiene license or Dentist.
  • Certification in local anesthesia and nitrous oxide administration.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of recent clinical dental hygiene experience.
  • Minimum of two years full-time teaching experience at the post-secondary level. Experience must include teaching, curriculum development, and administrative duties.
  • Administrative and organizational experience including program planning and implementation, personnel and budget management, program evaluation, and experience with professional accreditations..
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
  • Active participation in state and national professional organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver High-Quality, Student-Centered Instruction
  • Teach assigned Dental Hygiene courses using effective, engaging, and evidence-based instructional methods.
  • Design learning experiences that meet diverse student needs and promote skill development, critical thinking, and professional readiness.
  • Assess student performance and provide timely, clear, and constructive feedback.
  • Advise and mentor students to support retention, completion, and career success.
  • Lead and Manage the Dental Hygiene Program
  • Provide overall leadership for program planning, organization, administration, and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate staffing, scheduling, curriculum updates, and resource allocation to support program effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate records related to student progress, program outcomes, and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure safe and effective classroom and laboratory environments in alignment with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain Accreditation and Industry Alignment
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) standards.
  • Lead accreditation processes, documentation, and continuous program evaluation.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the Dental Hygiene profession and integrate industry standards into curriculum and instruction.
  • Build and sustain relationships with professional organizations and community partners.
  • Contribute to Institutional and Professional Engagement
  • Participate in faculty meetings, committees, curriculum development, and institutional initiatives.
  • Engage in professional development activities to strengthen teaching effectiveness and program leadership.
  • Support the mission, goals, and student success priorities of the College of Western Idaho.
  • Uphold college policies, ethical standards, and applicable state and federal regulations.
