About The Position

The College of Southern Nevada invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Environmental Science, beginning in August 2026. Candidates must hold an M.S. in Environmental Science, Physical Geography, Geology, or a closely related field. The College's standard teaching load includes five courses per semester, along with departmental responsibilities, student advising, and college service. Candidates are expected to teach both lower and upper division courses and labs in earth science, geology, environmental science, geology senior capstone, principles of stratigraphy and sedimentation, field geology, and other specialized courses in bachelor’s degree programs. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, dynamic instruction at the undergraduate level, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Ideal candidates will possess: Experience teaching at the college or university level. A willingness and aptitude for teaching and engaging students in active learning. Experience teaching laboratory and/or field-based courses. A desire to collaborate with undergraduate students on research projects. The ability to initiate and supervise interdisciplinary, applied projects and research in their area of professional expertise. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Physical Geography, Geology, or a closely related field.
  • Two years of teaching experience.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, dynamic instruction at the undergraduate level, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctoral Degree in Environmental Science, Physical Geography, Geology, or a closely related field.
  • Experience in teaching Natural Resource Science courses and Sedimentation and Stratigraphy at the third and fourth-year levels.
  • Teaching experience at a college or university.
  • Experience with curriculum development.
  • Experience mentoring students in senior-level research courses.
  • Experience teaching and/or working with diverse student and staff populations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the course and classroom management.
  • Demonstrated professional development/activities within your field outside of the classroom.
