About The Position

This is a contract faculty position. This is a half-time, on-site position at 15 hours per week. This position provides benefits and the Massachusetts Teachers Retirement System pension plan. This position is during the academic year, which is a duration of 162 days per year. This position does not work during the majority of the summer months. Under the direction of the Dean of Arts & Science, the faculty member will serve as a member of the faculty teaching college-level math courses and carry out other job related duties as assigned. Essential duties include teaching, collaborating with other appropriate faculty in the planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating of college-level math courses; collaborating with other appropriate faculty to facilitate and integrate correlated approach to course offerings; participating in the assessment, review and/or revision of course outlines, bibliographies, study guides, media, and other related course materials. Other responsibilities include student advising, curriculum development, assignment to College committees and other responsibilities as assigned by the Dean. The faculty member will maintain a competent level of performance and professional development in the position. This position may require teaching at the Boston Campus, Quincy Campus and/or Plymouth Campus.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in related field required; Doctorate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years college teaching experience, preferably in a community college setting
  • Understanding of and commitment to the community college mission
  • Experience instructing students from a diverse background preferred
  • Experience using technology in the classroom and/or for distance learning, and traditional/nontraditional methods of instruction
  • Experience using multiple measures to assess student learning
  • Proven history of strong inter-personal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Proven history of a high degree of motivation and self direction.

Responsibilities

  • Assume a leadership role in delineating and articulating Math content in assigned courses
  • Teach college-level Math, and as otherwise directed by the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs and/or the Dean of the Natural Health Science Program.
  • Collaborate with other appropriate faculty in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating Math courses
  • Collaborate with other appropriate faculty to facilitate and integrate a correlated approach to course offerings
  • Participate with others in the annual review or revision of course outlines, bibliographies, study guides, media, and other related course materials
  • Demonstrate motivation, self-direction, and perseverance towards achieving philosophy and mission of the Natural Health Science Program
  • Engage in the academic life of the college by serving on college committees.
  • Participate in mandatory training/coursework, including but not limited to: Title IX and Sexual Misconduct Non-Discrimination and Sexual Harassment Security Policy and Notification of Security Reporting FERPA Municipal Ethics Law
  • Assume other related duties as assigned.
