About The Position

The Instructional Designer works within the Office of General Counsel to design, develop, and deliver engaging training programs and other learning opportunities focused on compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and best practices. Serving under the Director of Regulatory Compliance, this position assesses training needs, develops and implements online training modules in key areas, serves as a liaison between subject matter experts and technical experts, and facilitates in-person training presentations as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree Focus: Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field
  • Minimum Experience (yrs.): Two years Focus: Demonstrated experience designing and developing online or hybrid. courses within a higher education environment.
  • Proficiency with Canvas and other learning management systems and related instructional technologies.
  • Proficiency with presentation and/or video editing software (e.g., PowerPoint, Articulate, Adobe Premiere).

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in instructional design, educational technology, or a related field.
  • Strong, demonstrated in-person presentation and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, research and writing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively across organizational levels and with different units and divisions of the university.
  • Ability to learn and communicate key provisions of applicable laws and regulations as they apply to units and divisions of the university.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work independently while collaborating with others.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and delivery engaging training programs and other learning opportunities focused on compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Collaborate with university counsel and compliance staff, along with other university units, to identify training and education needs for staff and faculty.
  • Coordinate with MSU Information Technology Services to develop and improve delivery and monitoring methods for online training.
  • Monitor completion and other metrics of effectiveness for training programs and partner with university units to ensure satisfactory performance.
  • Provide in-person training and education opportunities to university personnel as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
