Nemours Children's Health is seeking an Instructional Designer II to join our team in Jacksonville, Florida. The Instructional Designer II is responsible for independently analyzing learning needs and designing, developing, and delivering effective learning experiences and performance support that enable associates to successfully adopt and use clinical/business applications and related technologies. This role applies advanced instructional design practices to create learning solutions—such as job aids, class companions, class exercises, email notifiers, and intermediate eLearning —that support operational goals and improve workforce performance. In addition, the Instructional Designer II serves as a subject matter resource across supported applications/roles, maintains required application certifications, demonstrates understanding of application integrations and downstream impacts of system changes, and partners closely with SMEs to ensure training is accurate and aligned to workflows. The role manages moderate projects and contributes to complex initiatives with appropriate oversight, proactively builds strong customer relationships through regular engagement and clear communication. The role also supports learning systems such as the LMS, mentors team members on instructional design best practices and contributes to process improvements within the department. Strong collaboration, attention to detail, organization, communication skills, and ongoing professional development are required. This person must increase job knowledge through independent study and formal education with a willingness to perform other duties as assigned by leadership. Deliver instruction to individuals and groups in a variety of formats, including live, in-person or web events. Experience with Classroom Management methodologies and preparation techniques. Perform all facets of instructional design process—analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Maintain records of instructional development and training activities e.g., assessment grades, evaluations, metrics, templates, tracking systems, and file archival. Participate as SME and primary writer in projects for software applications, such as Epic, Oracle, etc. Experience with software applications for developing educational materials and experiences for in-class and online delivery. Manage designated projects, review deliverables, and communicate with project team. Experience with Project Management methodologies. Act as a consultant to clients seeking learning solutions and recommend appropriate educational strategies. Ability to conduct root cause analysis and recommend solutions for bridging performance gaps. Initiate, lead or facilitate meetings for team or customers. Maintain application certification(s) to provide support to internal technical analysts and end users. (Note: IDs must have detailed knowledge of each application they teach.) Support and respond to questions regarding learning systems and tools, such as the, LMS, and other application specific issues. Experience with Learning Management System and industry standards such as AICC, SCORM, and xAPI. Coach and guide team members in developing and broadening skills related to instructional design and writing techniques to ensure the quality of learning at Nemours.
