About The Position

Designs and delivers programs to train all levels of personnel. Develops tests and visual aids, conducts training classes, and develops criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training activities. Keeps abreast of training and development research: learning theory, motivation theory, and new materials, methods, and techniques. Develops in-house programs and practices to identify developmental needs, including preparing personnel for more responsible positions and increasing effectiveness in present assignments. May evaluate and/or oversee contractors or vendors to develop and/or administer training programs. May be responsible for development of e-learning programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience; Master?s Degree and 4 years of relevant experience
  • NNS Apprentice School graduate
  • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
  • Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
  • Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
  • High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
  • High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience with a variety of modalities with measurable business impact.
  • Strategic leadership experience preferred that moves beyond order-taking to alignment with understanding business needs and providing solutions enterprise wide.
  • Expert ability in conducting root cause analysis to determine if training is the actual solution to a performance gap.
  • Proficiency in managing multiple workstreams using various project management methodologies.
  • Experience presenting to and influencing executive-level stakeholders.
  • Experience mentoring and coaching instructional designers and performing quality assurance on their work.
  • Technical and theoretical expertise in various learning models, authoring tools, learning management systems, and multimedia.
  • Business acumen experience in data literacy, change management, budgeting, and vendor management.
  • Experience in adaptive learning or gamification and extensive knowledge of accessibility standards.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in process improvement methods
  • Continuously seeking opportunities to stay abreast/knowledgeable of industry trends, etc.
  • Prefer certifications like CPTD or equivalent.
  • Prefer 5+ years of recent experience in instructional design with at least 2+ years in a leadership or senior role.
  • Prefer master’s degree in instructional design, educational technology, organizational development or some related field.
