About The Position

Responsible for overseeing, maintaining, and coordinating the development, quality, and continuous improvement of the institution’s online course portfolio while directly supervising, evaluating, and developing a high-performing instructional design team. Provides clear direction, performance oversight, and professional development to ensure accountability and continuous improvement, while advancing innovative, learner-centered instructional design aligned with quality frameworks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Four years of related experience to include experience as a supervisor or lead worker
  • Knowledge of: Microsoft Office Professional or similar application
  • Online Course Management systems (i.e, DesignPlus, Canva, Canvas or similar)
  • Faculty development programs, online course development, online education best practices, and online proctoring systems
  • Various webinar, online lecture and meeting systems
  • Video and audio hosting systems
  • Educational technology tools
  • Skilled in: Motivating employees to apply the effort necessary to attain organizational, departmental goals and faculty development
  • Attention to detail while maintaining effective time and task management
  • Creative thinking and problem solving to explore new technology, processes, and approaches
  • Ability to: Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations, and take responsibility for a high level of service
  • Interact in a positive manner with diverse populations and varying education levels of students, faculty, staff, and the public via webinar and/or in-person presentations
  • Learn new technologies quickly and efficiently
  • Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements: Regular physical attendance required

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises, evaluates, coaches, and develops staff, establishing clear performance expectations, conducting regular performance reviews, and fostering continuous professional growth to advance department goals.
  • Leads planning, assignment, and oversight of instructional design workloads and project timelines, ensuring effective resource allocation, accountability, and timely completion of course development and review initiatives.
  • Oversees online course quality assurance processes, including template governance, certification requirements, and periodic course reviews, ensuring alignment with institutional standards and continuous improvement expectations.
  • Provides leadership to enhance the quality of distance education programs through coordination, reporting, and oversight of related initiatives, ensuring alignment with institutional and regulatory expectations.
  • Serves as an institutional representative external distance learning and educational partners, participating in collaborative activities and supporting required reporting, data sharing, and compliance-related efforts.
  • Leads institutional engagement with the Online Learning Consortium (OLC), including oversight of the OLC Scorecard process, coordination of evidence collection, and leadership of OLC-aligned quality improvement initiatives across online programs.
  • Partners with faculty, academic leadership, and support units to promote adoption of evidence-based online teaching practices, effective course structure, accessibility standards, and innovative instructional design approaches.
  • Evaluates and guides the adoption of emerging educational technologies and system enhancements, ensuring thoughtful integration into new and existing courses while maintaining instructional quality and compliance.
  • Maintains current knowledge of instructional design, online learning standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices through professional development, conferences, and engagement with national and state organizations.
  • Prepares and delivers managerial reports, documentation, and data submissions related to course quality, compliance, accreditation support, and institutional effectiveness initiatives.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
