About The Position

This position is for an Instructional Assistant/SPED Personal Care - Licensed Practical Nurse at Copper Canyon Elementary School. It is a 9-month, 6.5 hours/day role, reporting to the Elementary School Nurse. The primary responsibilities include establishing and maintaining rapport with students, employees, and the community, observing and reporting student conditions to the school nurse, providing emotional and physical comfort to students, assisting with student care plans, and supporting other students in the program.

Requirements

• Previous experience working with severely handicapped children
• Effective communication skills
• High School Diploma or GED
• Possession of a current license to practice as a licensed practical nurse
• Criminal Background Clearance
• Valid Arizona DPS Level I IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees and community.
• Observe, record, and report to the school nurse the condition of the student including signs and symptoms, which may be indicative of a change in the patient's condition.
• Provide for the emotional and physical comfort of the student.
• Assist in the care of the student in accordance with the student's care plan.
• Assist as needed with other students in program.
• Other job-related duties as assigned.
