About The Position

Internet Services (IS) is a service provider organization delivering network services to clients and hoteliers in the hospitality industry. Network services are installed and operated within meeting and guest rooms in hotels and other event facilities. Engineer responsibilities include the design, installation, and support of WAN/LAN, wireless, voice, and video network solutions. Act as a consultant to external clients and internal Encore employees providing expert network and event design and configurations. This position reports to the Director, Internet Services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Computer Science or equivalent job experience
  • At least 3 years of experience within the last 10 years working in a multi-network, multi-protocol Enterprise environment.
  • 3+ years of Cisco IOS and hardware experience. Familiarity with the following Cisco hardware: 2800, 2900, 3900, 4451x, ASR 1001, or better series routers, 2950, 2960/S/X, 3560/X, 3750/X, 4500, or better catalyst switches, 2500, 4400, 5800, 5520, or better Wireless LAN Controllers, 1130-3500, 1600-3600, 1700-3700, 1800-4800 or better autonomous and LWAP/CWAP series access points
  • 3 + years of experience implementing Wireless (WiFi) 802.11a/b/g/n technologies with vendors such as Cisco/Meraki, Ruckus, HP/Aruba, and Extreme Networks.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience in one or more of the following areas: Routing and Switching, Security, Wireless, Video/Voice
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to influence other levels of management, develop technical documentation, and create customer / internal communications
  • Ability to analyze network performance data to identify trends and potential problems, and support recommendations to modify and/or upgrade network equipment or services
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on listening and questioning
  • Ability to participate as an on-call for level 3 escalation, requiring availability 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Certifications: Cisco CCNA/CCDA/CCNP with Wireless specialties, and other equivalent network and wireless vendors
  • Experience with Cisco ACS, Prime/WCS, Solarwinds products, or other network monitoring tools preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate IS project responsibilities including project organization, technical design, logistics communication, and execution with Partners, Contractors, and Project Manager.
  • Follow and maintain design and wireless best practices and methodologies for survey, installation, and event usage. Regularly review documentation and stay current on new and changing guidelines.
  • Conduct onsite and remote technical projects such as; Network infrastructure surveys and mandatory deliverable documentation, Network and/or upgrade designs per Encore and brand/industry standards or custom requests, Network infrastructure installations and mandatory operational documentation, Event engineering and support as required, Provide technical training for internal and external users on network, systems, and applications capabilities as required
  • Act as technical design lead and level three support for internal network engineers and event managers assisting with field employees, clients, and guest room support teams.
  • Consult with internal and external end users on event and network requirements including pre-sales discovery and support.
  • Develop and implement network best-practices management and maintenance procedures for our clients. Attend client discovery meetings, demo and present solutions, and provide necessary input into RFI’s and RFP’s.
  • Prepare proposals for hardware, software, and professional services as required. Develop, present, and demonstrate solutions to prospective customers based on detailed customer requirements to highlight broad solution areas with emphasis on key differentiators to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Responsible for monitoring and analyzing network performance and device behavior and adhere to departmental standards and service level agreements (SLA).
  • Proactively identify and lead remediation efforts of potential network issues.
  • Follow incident response management procedures, acknowledgement and supervision of alerts, and provide reports and escalation information to stakeholders. Perform and review routine network preventative health checks and maintenance.
  • Interface as third tier level of support for Network Operations Center for all routers, switches, access points, wireless controllers, VoIP services, and network management systems in WAN and LAN.
  • Responsible for staying current with approved network hardware and software manufactures, such as; Cisco/Meraki, Ruckus, HP/Aruba, Solarwinds, Apple, Microsoft, etc.
  • Prepare and deliver training, guides, and formal documentation to internal and external employees and customers on specific hardware, software, and services as directed.
  • Organize and lead efforts to utilize in-house lab environment for testing new functionality, features, and software upgrades as well as simulating current issues and behaviors of client setups.
