About The Position

Ultium Cells, LLC. is a joint venture Lithium-ion battery cell manufacturing plant between LG Energy Solution, Ltd., and General Motors. This high-technology plant will have the latest in battery cell manufacturing technology. Ultium Cells’ partners include LG Energy Solution, Ltd.; the world’s largest manufacturer of automotive battery cells, and General Motors; a global company committed to delivering safer, better and more sustainable ways for people to get around. Summary: Ultium Cells is seeking an exceptional candidate for an Automation Specialist position supporting battery factory automation. This position will provide support for Smart Factory Systems and will be responsible for overseeing and implementing Smart Factory systems. This role also will be able to communicate with cross-functional teams and individuals within the company.

Requirements

  • Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for effective collaboration within the team and across cross-functional departments.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in MS Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) and general PC usage.
  • Problem-Solving: Proactive attitude toward identifying and resolving technical issues in a manufacturing environment.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree from a technical institution preferred; Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology a plus.
  • Rotating Shift Requirement: Due to the nature of the operations, participation in a day/night rotating shift is mandatory. The rotation cycle typically occurs every month (can be changed)
  • Work Hours: Standard operations follow a 12-hour per day schedule (including a 1-hour meal break).
  • Work Week: Typically, a 4 or 5-day work week (minimum 40 hours per week). Schedules may be adjusted based on operational needs.
  • Compensation Category: This is a Salary position. While the minimum requirement is 40 hours per week, overtime may be required depending on business demands.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical Experience (Preferred): Experience in maintenance of inkjet/laser markers and vision cameras is a significant plus but not required.
  • Experience working in a multicultural or multinational environment is preferred.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Korean is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and maintain equipment related to electrode production and traceability (Main equipment: Inkjet markers, vision cameras, electrical components, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot and maintain equipment related to assembly production and traceability (Main equipment: Laser markers, vision cameras, electrical components, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot and maintain equipment related to auto-control systems (Mainly PC-based systems).
  • Manage and optimize inventory for spare parts of assigned equipment.
  • Technical Documentation & Office Tasks: Maintain issue logs for equipment maintenance, create standard operating procedure (SOP) manuals, and perform other office work
  • General Support: Perform other tasks and projects as assigned by management.
