Job Description: Position Summary and Purpose The Director of Rehab Services is responsible for providing leadership and direction for the rehabilitative continuum of care at Frazier Rehab Institute; specifically inpatient and outpatient rehab services on the downtown campus. Responsibilities include administrative and operational oversight of clinical services that support multidisciplinary, programmatic, comprehensive rehab care; including but is not limited to strategic plan implementation, staffing and succession planning, orientation and training, billing and compliance, budgeting processes and capital requests, program planning, patient experience, employee engagement and ensuring the delivery of efficient and effective therapy. As applicable for their licensed area of clinical expertise, the Rehab Care Continuum Director provides clinical guidance to team members. The Rehab Care Continuum Director develops and implements goals and objectives that ensure comprehensive quality rehab services are delivered on all levels. In collaboration with other Frazier Rehab leaders, it provides guidance regarding standards of care, compliance, and regulatory requirements for medical rehabilitation services. As part of Frazier Rehab’s senior leadership team, the Rehab Care Continuum Director plays a key role in the overall business development, strategic planning, service delivery, management of the organization and the expectation to meet/exceed established clinical and operational goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in therapy specialty with extensive experience in the delivery of clinical services.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in rehab management with demonstrated success with multi-disciplinary clinical specialties.
  • Experience in CARF and Joint Commission accreditation processes.
  • Experience in rehab education and programming initiatives.
  • Experience with grant management and philanthropy engagement

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and clinical leadership to team members to support and develop the provision of services necessary to deliver high-value care that is financially feasible and sustainable.
  • Evaluate the needs for the delivery of services, recruitment, interviewing and hiring to fulfill program needs.
  • Deploy resources efficiently and effectively toward organizational goals, working with leaders to balance workload and effort, and providing ongoing feedback so that staff can continuously improve their supervision and mentoring skills.
  • Identify and develop business relationships with external organizations/providers/community. groups to disseminate Frazier Rehab’s care model; conduct presentations and communications.
  • Oversee Frazier Rehab’s grant funded initiatives and ensure appropriate delivery of services and timely reporting.
  • Represent Frazier Rehab at the local and national level by attending networking and educational opportunities and promoting the positive reputation of the organization.
  • Serves as a resource to staff and other UofL Health directors. Maintains effective working relationships with members of medical staff, other departments, and affiliates. Works to create an environment that fosters individual respect and encourages employees to contribute their talent to the goals of Frazier.
  • Assist with regular review and updates to Frazier Rehab Policies and Procedures.
  • Oversees the operations of all departments within the fiscal guidelines of the Frazier Institute / Budget. Ensures the departments and programs have the resources (personnel, equipment, supplies to provide for quality and continuity of patient care and / or services.
  • Provides leadership and effective personnel management, establishing a team that provides high quality services, promotes a positive work environment and the recruitment and retention of high-quality staff.
  • Develops mechanisms to ensure that the continuous quality improvement and quality resource management programs are maintained. Oversight of compliance with all safety, incident reporting, and infection control policies in all departments as they pertain to the Joint Commission and CARF regulations. Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team of neurologic providers and stakeholders to develop meaningful educational and outreach projects that enhance quality of care and contribute to improved outcomes
  • Demonstrates professional conduct and appearance and is accountable for actions and outcomes
  • Orients new members of the healthcare team as well as supervises students in the performance of assigned duties
  • May act in the role of relief charge nurse when the unit need arises
  • Maintains professional competency through continuing education, ongoing competency demonstration, licensure and professional activities; demonstrates valuing life-long learning
  • Participates in evidence-based practice activities, such as journal clubs, and discusses outcomes of care with colleagues, demonstrating knowledge of care indicators; takes steps to improve care delivery by self and team and remains up-to-date with compliance, regulatory and accreditation standards
  • Actively participates as a collaborative member of the healthcare team by communicating constructively using core behavioral standards. Identifies clinical and interdepartmental problems, resolving conflicts appropriately on behalf of the care team and patients; demonstrates ability to give and receive peer review and feedback, incorporating this into his or her practice
  • Performs duties in a cost-effective manner, striving to avoid wasting hospital resources without jeopardizing quality of care and service
  • Consistently upholds the Code of Ethics for Nurses. This framework provides a principled foundation for ethical nursing practice and sound decision-making in complex care environments
  • Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct
  • Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times
