About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: An OT2 consistently provides effective direct care to a variety of complex patients. In doing so the OT2 acts as a role model and supervisor for junior staff and helps identify patients who have unmet occupational therapy needs. An OT2 is focused on expanding clinical knowledge and skills beyond the entry level and sharing this knowledge through in-services and participates as an active member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team. The OT2 acts as a role model and may supervise other staff. This level of therapist seeks as well as provides feedback for improved clinical practice and begins to assume a leadership role receiving mentoring in this process. Therapists at this level may be asked to contribute to performance appraisals. The OT2 is expected to serve as a primary clinical instructor for students. Performs occupational therapy evaluations according to professional standards and departmental guidelines. Demonstrates knowledge of intervention options and executes a program of skilled occupational therapy intervention. Actively participates in professional growth of self and others. Actively participates in quality improvement and program development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • 6 months relevant experience
  • Licensed to practice in Occupational Therapy in the Commonwealth of Virginia. New grads must be licensed within 6 months of hire.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
