Effective July 1, 2025, The California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025). The salary range(s) included in the job advertisement do not reflect the 3 percent reduction in pay. The California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) is seeking a highly qualified Information Technology Specialist II (ITS II) to serve within the Network Management Services section of the Enterprise Network. The Network Engineer works with other Network Specialists and Network Associates, as well as Telecommunications Engineers in the Network Engineering Unit. A successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency with data and some voice networking components. The ITS II's duties will include, but are not limited to: Work on engineering network solutions Assist with architecture and design Network planning and projects Day-to-day maintenance, operational tasks, and respond to incidents. Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Cisco Firewall Threat Defense (FTD) or other clustered firewall technology
  • Experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) or other port security technology
  • Experience with Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) or other Software Defined Networking, such as VMWare vSphere Distributed Switch (VDS)
  • Experience with cloud environments such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon AWS
  • Experience with configuring routers, switches, firewalls, virtual private networks (VPN), load balancers, and wireless networking
