About The Position

Under the direction of the Chief Cloud Technology Manager and Information Technology Supervisor II, the Information Technology Specialist I (ITS I) will independently plan, organize and manage the tasks related to IT Project Management at an expert level. Serves as a lead IT Project Manager, responsible for the planning, scheduling, and successful delivery of IT projects in alignment with departmental goals and industry best practices. The incumbent manages the full Project Approval Lifecycle (PAL) process, provides project governance and oversight, oversees project procurement activities, and prepares all required documentation while ensuring project compliance with State IT policies and mandates. This role includes a special emphasis on cloud initiatives, specifically executing projects on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including cloud innovation feasibility assessments and leveraging GCP best practices to enable faster business delivery through optimized infrastructure, security, and cost management. Requirements

  • Please include a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) that answers the following questions below. Your response should be typed in Arial 12 point font single spaced and no more than two pages in length.   • Describe your background, education, and/or training as it relates to managing cloud migration projects and cloud platform implementations. Highlight your expertise in areas like cloud architecture principles, Agile methodologies, and relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Project Manager, Google Professional Cloud Architect, etc.).
  • Please outline your effectiveness as a Project Manager for cloud-related initiatives. For one of the projects you've managed, describe in detail how your actions directly resulted in a significant improvement to a key metric, such as reduced costs, faster delivery, or improved system performance.
  • Describe your experience collaborating with various teams, including DevOps teams, Cloud Architects, Security specialists, business stakeholders to accomplish a shared goal. Explain your role and how you effectively communicated and collaborated with these diverse groups to ensure a successful outcome for a cloud project, such as ensuring all security and governance requirements were met.
  • Describe your experience with change management in a technical project. How did you handle resistance to change, and what was your approach to ensuring a smooth transition for end-users.

Nice To Haves

  • The ITS I must have the ability to apply advanced analytical techniques, effective communication skills, strong organizational skills, and keep abreast of model project management methodology and practices, with a focus on cloud migration and infrastructure projects, such a GCP.
  • The incumbent must be able to manage changing priorities and work effectively under urgent deadlines.
  • The incumbent may be asked to work independently or cooperatively with a team as appropriate and is expected to report on and complete assignments in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Participation in all project and staff meetings is required.
  • This position requires the incumbent to maintain acceptable, consistent, and regular attendance and adhere to departmental policies and procedures regarding attendance, leave, and conduct; and must be regularly available and willing to work the hours the Department determines are necessary to meet its business needs. This means being required to occasionally work on non-regular business hours or weekends.
  • General knowledge or familiarity with Google Cloud Platform and a high level understanding of cloud concepts is at a business level is desired.
