About The Position

The Indian Health Service (IHS) requires an Information Technology Specialists to provide non-personal IT services for the Santa Fe Indian Health Center (SFIHC) and its satellite clinics. The specialists are responsible for maintaining system operations, supporting cloud environments, and ensuring the technical needs of healthcare providers and patients are met.

Requirements

  • Expertise in Windows systems, ServiceNow, virtual machine (VM) cloud platforms, and Active Directory.
  • Must be a Certified Network Specialist (CNA) and a certified VM cloud server professional.
  • Experience with RPMS, EHR, SharePoint servers, and VOIP phone applications.
  • Ability to provide training sessions to end-users and communicate effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent field. Must provide proof of degree.
  • 5 years of VM Cloud server experience (active cert).
  • 5 years as a Network Administrator (active cert).
  • 5–10 years of Helpdesk support.
  • 3–10 years of general Computer IT specialist support.
  • 2–5 years of SharePoint and VOIP application experience.
  • Successful completion of fingerprinting and Level I and II background investigations (CNACI).
  • A valid driver’s license to operate Government-Owned (GSA) vehicles.
  • Documented immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap, and Influenza, plus a recent TB test (TB must be within last 12 mo.).
  • Candidates must pass character investigations required by the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain virtual machine environments in cloud platforms, including configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, security, backups, and disaster recovery.
  • Support Windows systems, Application support for RPMS and EHR (Electronic Health Records), and maintain server standards.
  • Diagnose and resolve software, hardware, and network connectivity issues via the ServiceNow Portal.
  • Identify and resolve network malfunctions, perform routine maintenance/performance evaluations, and manage Active Directory user accounts.
  • Apply OS patches, perform security monitoring, and execute hardware/resource optimization.
  • Strict adherence to HIPAA standards, the Privacy Act, and IHS-specific security policies are required for managing medical information.
  • Maintaining operational and configuration procedures and submitting weekly timesheets to the COR.
