About The Position

Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced hybrid centered environment with variety in your work? The California Department of Insurance (CDI) is seeking a dynamic Information Technology Specialist I with experience with Content Management Systems, training users on best practices in creating content and working with customers on creating ADA-compliant web pages. If this is you, then CDI may be the employer for you! The Information Technology Specialist I acts as a Web and Policy Analyst (WPA) for the California Department of Insurance (CDI) Internet and Intranet sites. The incumbent regularly interacts with business partners, team members and web application developers to provide quality experience for the department's web users. Effective July 1, 2025, the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025 and related Pay Differential 386. PLP 2025 requires employees to receive a reduction in pay in exchange for monthly hours of PLP 2025 leave credits. Requirements

  • Must be able to work in a high-rise building.
  • Ability to transport documents and/or equipment up to 15-20 lbs., i.e. laptop computer, files, reference manuals, solicitation documents, etc.
  • The incumbent may telework in accordance with CDI's Telework Policy. Teleworking employees may be required to report to their headquarters office location on designated telework days. Travel expenses are not reimbursed, however other authorized transit subsidies do exist for those who qualify.

Nice To Haves

  • 8 years of HTML, JavaScript, and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) knowledge
  • 5 years of knowledge of Content Management Systems (CMS)
  • 5 years of accessibility experience based on the American With Disabilities Act and Assembly Bill 434
  • 5 years of Google Analytics and other analytic software
  • 3 years of training users on department-wide software and department-established best practices increating content with regard to formatting, look/feel, and standards
  • 5 years of working with customers on creating ADA-compliant and clean webpages with standards and best-practices in mind
