About The Position

The Endpoint Engineer is responsible for the administration, support, and ongoing maintenance of endpoint management and security services for University-owned computing devices. This position manages Windows and Apple endpoints using enterprise tools including Microsoft Intune, JAMF, Microsoft 365, CrowdStrike, and Tenable to ensure secure, consistent, and compliant endpoint configurations. The Endpoint Engineer collaborates with system administrators, security staff, and service teams to support endpoint lifecycle management, security incident response, and operational improvements. This role also contributes to documentation, automation, and project-based initiatives that support service reliability, security, and institutional technology standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience equal to eight (8) years.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in endpoint engineering, endpoint management, or endpoint security.
  • Knowledge of Windows and Apple operating systems, including patching and update processes.
  • Experience administering Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, licensing, and security and compliance features.
  • Experience with endpoint management tools such as JAMF and Microsoft Intune.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with PowerShell scripting.
  • Understanding of endpoint security concepts and industry best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to provide remote technical support.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting information technology services in a higher education environment.
  • Experience with endpoint security platforms such as CrowdStrike.
  • Experience with automation, monitoring, or configuration management tools.
  • Project coordination or project management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain endpoint management platforms, including JAMF, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft 365, and CrowdStrike.
  • Ensure standardized and compliant system configurations across supported operating systems.
  • Evaluate, test, and deploy operating system, driver, and security updates to managed endpoints.
  • Monitor endpoint compliance, performance, and security posture.
  • Assist with investigation and resolution of endpoint security incidents.
  • Maintain the University’s endpoint software portfolio using Microsoft Company Portal and AppsAnywhere.
  • Install, configure, monitor, and maintain University-approved applications.
  • Assist with application packaging, deployment, and policy configuration.
  • Support application performance, reliability, and compatibility efforts.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for internal staff and end users.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation and standardized processes.
  • Develop and support solutions related to endpoint automation, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Evaluate tools and services to support endpoint management and security needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on endpoint-related initiatives and projects.
  • Provide Tier 2 support for endpoint-related incidents and service requests.
  • Provide technical guidance and recommendations to stakeholders as needed.
  • Participate in project planning, prioritization, and implementation activities.
