About The Position

The Maine Community College System (MCCS) is looking for a full-time Information Systems Specialist III (ISS III) to be located at Washington County Community College. Under limited supervision and a high level of judgment, this advanced technical services position is responsible for the management and troubleshooting of all classroom audiovisual and computing equipment and staff enterprise applications, as well as any needed research and proactive maintenance at the assigned college. The position will perform complex technical support and administrative functions across the complete range of technologies supported by MCCS IT Shared Services, requiring a vast knowledge of multiple user and server hardware, software, and Software as a Service (SaaS) environments. This position is also responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining campus specific software and services based on their college assignment. The position is required to keep up to date on current computer technology in order to make informed recommendations regarding policy development and improvements and assist in the development of information technology plans for the college, working collaboratively with college employees and the Regional Helpdesk Manager. The ISS III position is within the MSEA Support Services Unit, range 23. The required minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in information technology or similar field and three years of relevant work experience. Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of operating systems, networking protocols, and enterprise-level applications.
  • Familiarity with the specific IT needs and challenges of a higher education institution, including academic software, student information systems, and online learning platforms.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving complex hardware, software, and network issues efficiently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Ability to provide exceptional support and service, focusing on user satisfaction and quick resolution of issues.
  • Capability to work well within a team and collaborate with other IT professionals on large-scale projects across multiple remote sites.
  • Skill In creating and maintaining detailed technical documentation, including user manuals and system operation guides.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the rapidly changing IT landscape and new technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple issues concurrently.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in managing IT systems and documentation.

Responsibilities
