About The Position

Performs advanced informational and communications work. Work involves coordinating the research, writing, editing, and production of content and materials for release to various communications media and for use by the agency, the public, and other agencies; and supervising the work of others. Works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United State Department of Education (USDE). Major course work in Communications, Media Relations, Graphic Design, or a related field preferred. Each year of experience as described below in excess of the required four years may be substituted for thirty semester hours from an accredited college or university on a year-for-year basis.
  • Four years full-time, wage-earning media production, video editing, or video production experience.
  • Knowledge of digital video production, including studio and location production procedures and equipment.
  • Knowledge of digital video editing and file management practices.
  • Knowledge of digital photography production, including studio and location production procedures and equipment.
  • Knowledge of photographic editing software and file management.
  • Knowledge of audio recording and amplification, computer graphics, and multimedia presentation techniques.
  • Skill to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely.
  • Skill to coordinate with other staff, departments, officials, agencies, organizations, and the public.
  • Skill to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Skill to oversee program activities.
  • Skill to establish goals and objectives.
  • Skill in the use of computers and software, to include Apple Macintosh and PC platforms, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.
  • Skill to research information and design media materials in order to help achieve the agency’s mission and communications goals.
  • Skill to compose media content for website and print publications.
  • Skill in graphic art production and writing for publication.
  • Skill in preparing and maintain archived media.
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, reach above the shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, climb stairs, identify colors, hear with aid, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize, lift and carry 45 lbs. and over, perceive depth, operate a motor vehicle, and operate motor equipment.
  • Conditions include working inside, working around machines with moving parts and moving objects, radiant and electrical energy, working closely with others, working alone, working protracted or irregular hours, and traveling by car, van, bus, and airplane.
  • Equipment (machines, tools, devices) used in performing only the essential functions include computer and related equipment, calculator, copier, fax machine, telephone, dolly, and automobile.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and coordinates communications, publication, and video production program areas to create accurate, professional, and informative finished products which communicate and disseminate agency programs, policies, services, and objectives; and plans and executes agency public informational meetings, programs, seminars, and conferences.
  • Establishes and maintains liaison with program management and staff, local, state, and federal officials, other agencies and organizations, and the public; and advises agency management and staff of communications options and programs.
  • Schedules, coordinates, and conducts interviews and researches resources ensuring completeness and accuracy of printed and online materials; coordinates and creates illustrative, photographic, and multi-media content; and oversees, plans, schedules, and conducts in-studio and on-location photo and video shoots and edits material and creates content for publication.
  • Supervises the work of others; and provides technical assistance and guidance in the program areas.
  • Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.
