Beauty Systems Group, branded as Cosmo Prof or Armstrong McCall stores, along with its direct sales consultants, sell professionally branded products intended for use and resale by salons to retail consumers. About the role Location: Hybrid | Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday at the Sally Beauty Support Center, Legacy West (Plano, TX); Remote Thursday or Friday The cybersecurity intern will assist in various security-related tasks, gaining exposure to the roles of security analysts, engineers, and (if skills and time allow) offensive security practitioners. The intern will shadow professionals, respond to security alerts, and complete a security engineering project. A final presentation to senior leadership (topic TBD) will be required at the end of the internship. The internship will be hybrid, requiring attendance at the HQ in Plano, Texas, on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with basic security concepts (e.g., logs, vulnerabilities, and threat intelligence).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with basic knowledge of scripting or programming languages a plus
  • Eager to learn and work with a variety of cybersecurity tools and techniques.

Responsibilities

  • (20%) Shadow teams across security analyst and engineering roles to understand daily workflows.
  • (20%) Spend several weeks working on live security alerts to gain hands-on experience in incident response and monitoring.
  • (20%) Contribute to a security engineering project, such as improving configurations, automating processes, or enhancing tools.
  • (10%) If time and skills allow, participate in red team activities, such as penetration testing or simulated attack scenarios.
  • (10%) Conduct research on emerging threats & vulnerabilities, documenting findings for team use.
  • (5%) Assist in reviewing and improving configurations for secure systems, networks, and tools.
  • (5%) Document processes, incidents, and project outcomes for team and leadership reference.
  • (10%) Present a final project to senior leadership summarizing key internship learnings.
