THE DEPARTMENTThe mission of the Office of Data and Accountability is to collect, verify, analyze, and report student demographic and achievement data that informs the operational and instructional practice in our schools. Accountability is a core function of the Office of Data and Accountability. In LAUSD, data represents students, schools, and the work of the organization. ODA sets district data policy, defines business rules, and certifies the official data used for reporting, decision making, and accountability. We create district dashboards and reports that inform the allocation of resources, identify risk, and highlight success, and we validate and submit accurate data to the California Department of Education for use in state accountability systems. Through clear data governance guardrails, ODA ensures consistency, integrity, and responsible use of data across the district. Accountability means ensuring the district can stand behind every number it reports, that no student’s progress is lost to error, and that outcomes are represented clearly and fairly. This is how ODA moves the work from managing systems to governing outcomes and provides leaders with decision grade evidence they can trust.
