The Infection Control Nurse assists with the planning and implementation of the Infection Control Program for the assigned entity. This role involves conducting surveillance, reviewing and implementing prevention and infection control policies and procedures, and collecting and communicating infection control data. The nurse also assists with internal and external infection control risk assessments, reviews regulatory guidelines, and integrates them into the program. Other duties include assisting with cluster and outbreak investigations, reporting to public health authorities, providing education, and supporting emergency management planning. The Infection Control Nurse serves as a resource to entity leaders, medical staff, students, employees, and volunteers, and actively participates in routine rounding, inspections, and surveys.
