Lancaster Behavioral Health Hospital (LBHH) is a newly opened (July, 2018) 126-bed, inpatient psychiatric hospital and start-up joint venture between Lancaster General Health/Penn Medicine and Universal Health Services. In addition to a general adult unit and dedicated adolescent unit, the new facility will also offer services for treating those with co-occurring disorders on the psychiatric-medical unit, an intensive adult unit to care for those with severe conditions, as well as a women’s trauma unit. Infection Control Nurse (RN) at Lancaster Behavioral Health Hospital is responsible for the development and implementation of an infection control program for all inpatient and partial hospital programs to include the surveillance, prevention, and control of infection to reduce the risks of acquiring and transmitting infection among patients and employees. Infection Control Nurse (RN)/ Nurse Educator is responsible for completing the following duties and tasks: The Infection Control Nurse functions in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Lancaster Behavioral Health System and the Standards of Practice of the Center for Disease Control. Must possess knowledge of general and psychiatric nursing principles, working knowledge of microbiology, immunology and epidemiology, age-specific growth and development. The Infection Control Nurse provides employee health services, patient and staff education, and coordinates the Infection Control function. Supports, conducts, and oversees an ongoing system of education and updated best practices education for members of nursing staff with a focus on professional development. Formulates educational resources, arranges orientation of newly hired employees, assesses the unique training needs of established staff, organizes in-services, and participates in the hiring process as necessary.
