About The Position

Jerome Home has an immediate opening for a Full Time Infection Preventionist (IP). As the IP, your job position is to plan, organize, develop, coordinate and direct our infection prevention program and its activities in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern such programs, and as may be directed by the Director of Nursing and the Executive Director. We have several on-line programs currently being used by our staff: Matrix is used as our EMR. Shifthound is our on-line scheduling program. At the click of a button, you can request time off or request to pick up a shift. You can also send email/text notification to request coverage of an open shift. Relias is our on-line education program. Classes are assigned via email for you to complete in the allotted time at your own pace. Paycom is our online payroll system. We are all direct deposit and you are able to view your check right online. In addition, we communicate to staff through this system. The Infection Preventionist duties include, but are not limited to: Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, coordinate, and direct our infection control program in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern such requirements in the long-term care facility. Ensure that the facility is in compliance with current CDC, OSHA, and local regulations concerning infection control, universal or standard precautions. Develop, maintain, and periodically update infection control precautions and aseptic technique that successfully correct problem areas. Monitor infection control practices and procedures to ensure that all personnel are implementing our standard operating procedures for tasks involving exposure to blood/body fluids. Make rounds to nursing units for the purpose of case findings, review of environmental sanitation procedures, and supervision of standard precautions/practices. Review and analyze infectious disease laboratory reports and consult with the Director Of Nursing in developing the care plan for assuring t Ensure that all nursing service personnel follow established isolation precautions and aseptic technique to include universal or standard precautions hat aseptic techniques are implemented. Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, coordinate and direct activities related to the prevention and treatment of pressure areas.

Requirements

  • Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut.
  • Must have IP or IC certification from APIC.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  • Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to long-term care.
  • Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.
  • Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing quality care.
