About The Position

Paradise Valley Hospital, a member of Prime Healthcare, is an award-winning team committed to quality, compassion, and community. The 291-bed acute care hospital offers various programs and services including the San Diego Spine & Joint Center, a highly credentialed acute rehabilitation center, the Paradise Health & Senior Center, a fully equipped and modern cardiac catheterization lab, comprehensive inpatient and outpatient surgical services, and 24-hour emergency services. Additionally, the hospital provides comprehensive behavioral health services on the hospital campus and Bayview campus in Chula Vista, including psychiatric continuum of care for adult patients, inpatient services, and intensive outpatient services.

Requirements

  • Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Successful completion of IC Fundamental Course if less than one (1) year experience and within one year of hire required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree in life sciences or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in acute care setting with at least one (1) year in infection control or employee health, preferred.
  • Completion of formal APIC courses in Infection Control desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for surveillance, prevention and control of infection.
  • Assists with policy and procedure development and implementation while maintaining CDC, OSHA, AOA HFAP/TJC/CMS/local regulatory and other regulatory agency standards or directives.
  • Acts as a primary education consultant to hospital employees, physicians, patients, volunteers and visitors in safe Infection Control/Prevention practices.
  • Coordinates all hospital infection control activities with the Infection Control Committee, Medical Staff and hospital employees.
  • Responds to potential exposures by communicating with patients, physicians, employees, volunteers and regulatory agencies.
