The Industrial Shop Apprentice will assemble or fabricate parts, pieces or products using a variety of tools and equipment according to required specifications in a manufacturing organization. This position is ideal for individuals who are eager to learn and grow in an industrial setting.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic reading skills and must be able to follow directions
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
  • Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem
  • High attention to detail and self-motivation skills
  • Work in a team environment and respect all teammates
  • Must be able to read a tape measurer
  • Must be able to work well with others

Nice To Haves

  • 1 years fabrication experience preferred
  • Basic computer navigation and utilization skills preferred
  • Specific technical or vocational training or certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assisting machinists and other skilled workers with their tasks to enhance productivity.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized workspace, which includes sweeping, mopping, and removing trash.
  • Transporting materials and tools to and from the work area as needed.
  • Preparing materials for production, including cutting, sorting, and packaging.
  • Assisting in machine setup and teardown under the supervision of an experienced operator.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and procedures.
  • Performing basic maintenance tasks and troubleshooting under supervision.
  • Participating in team meetings and contributing to productivity improvement discussions.
  • Read, interpret and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately create equipment and products.
  • Utilize handheld tools such as a handheld screw gun, magnetic drill, grinders, saws.
  • Operate calipers, tape measures, and other hand tool.
  • Perform self-quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standards.
  • Utilize horizontal and vertical bandsaws to cut material.
  • Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures.
  • Prioritize work flow through effective communication with management staff.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, take out trash, sweep floors.
