Union Tank Car Company is seeking applicants to become a member of our production team at our full-service rail tank car repair shop in Muscatine, Iowa. Requirements

Must have a high school diploma, GED, or pass a Combined Basic Skills Test
Experience or knowledge in the use of painting/blasting tools, not limited to paint guns, sanding tools, material blasters, grinding tools, etc.
Must be able to work effectively and efficiently both as a member of a team and independently
Able to follow written and/or verbal instructions with minimal supervision
Ability to read, interpret, and follow documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and assembly instructions
Safety and quality focused
Willingness to wear required PPE at all times and always work safely.
Be available to work any shift, and be dependable and reliable to show up for scheduled work shifts including overtime, as allowed per the union contract

Responsibilities

Mask off components such as valves, trucks, couplers, or areas of the surface not to be sprayed.
Select coatings following work specifications and prepares equipment for spraying.
Mixes coating according to specifications and applies the coating to install or repair a section of a coating using airless spray equipment to the exterior of a tank car.
Cleans and maintains spraying equipment.
Apply decals as required to the tank or hopper car exterior.
Inspects finished product for overall quality and follow established safety procedures.
Maintains work area in a neat and orderly manner and reports potential hazards.
