The Industrial Mechanic I operates under the supervision of the VP of Maintenance, with additional input from the Executive Team. This role requires experience in mechanical systems, construction, and equipment maintenance, along with a willingness to acquire extensive knowledge of state and federal health regulations. In collaboration with the VP of Facilities, the Industrial Mechanic I is responsible for managing and maintaining the corporation's facilities, mechanical systems, and grounds. Key duties include assisting in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures that comply with Federal, State, and Local requirements and licensure certification standards. The mechanic will address issues related to plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems, as well as general grounds and building maintenance. A flexible work schedule is necessary to meet management demands. The position involves actively seeking opportunities to improve the efficiency and maintenance of these systems and participating in professional growth. Responsibilities also encompass assisting with a preventative maintenance program, performing routine repairs, managing third-party vendors for major repairs, maintaining records of drills and checks, ensuring rooms are in good repair, providing safety training, and maintaining grounds (including lawn care and snow removal). The role also involves assisting with cost estimates for the capital budget, participating in annual inspections, implementing Life Safety Code corrections, enforcing safety practices, collaborating with administrators and department managers on building needs, participating in committees, and serving as a facility van driver.
