INDUSTRIAL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN (FACILITIES) The Industrial Maintenance Technician at SpaceX works in a fast-paced environment, where the extraordinary becomes the everyday. The Industrial Maintenance Technician will oversee the installation and maintenance of our heavy industrial equipment, such as cranes, elevators, and mega doors, by third-party contractors. As an Industrial Maintenance Technician, you will also be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our machinery and mechanical equipment. This will include installing new equipment, performing regular service and maintenance, and troubleshooting equipment breakdowns on items such as, but not limited to, compressors, air dryers, pumps, motors, gensets, and automotive equipment. As an industrial maintenance technician, you will utilize all tools at your disposal to ensure the reliability of the industrial equipment and any associated support equipment. This will involve corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance, along with operational and design feedback, to maintain and improve all systems at the Cape Canaveral launch facilities. To ensure success as an Industrial Maintenance Technician, you should have advanced mechanical knowledge of industrial machinery, have a passion for understanding how things work, and have a sharp senses that help you locate minor faults quickly. Excellent troubleshooting and time-management skills will further support success. Ultimately, a top-class Industrial Maintenance Technician boosts launch schedule reliability by ensuring all support equipment functions correctly and receives regular maintenance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 1+ years of experience in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical, electrical, fluids, HVAC, or control systems

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with parametric and industrial control systems
  • Experience maintaining machinery and equipment in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Experience with HVAC, electrical safety, pneumatic principles, tubing, pipe-fittings, rotating machinery (pumps, air compressors, etc.), machining, and welding
  • Experience in process piping installation, especially in stainless steel, CPVC, and cryogenic applications
  • Experience with high pressure (1,000psi+) gaseous/liquid systems
  • Experience with pressure fitting types (compression, JIC, NPT, and MP/HP)
  • Experience wiring with multi-meters, hand tools, and power tools

Responsibilities

  • Reading and interpreting engineering blueprints
  • Installing new production support equipment, ground support equipment, or launch support equipment
  • Maintaining and installing all electrical, mechanic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Inspecting and assessing the functionality of critical facility systems (cranes, elevators, compressed air, and mega doors)
  • Troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns
  • Adjusting mechanical parts using hand and machine tools
  • Fabricating parts for repairs and machine upgrades
  • Conducting routine maintenance and safety checks
  • Sourcing replacement parts and liaising with vendors
  • Communicating with the production, ground, and launch teams and maintaining a clean work area
  • Preparing and submitting maintenance reports
  • Repairing broken or leaking plumbing to avoid damage and restore full use of affected system (compressed air, water, or hydraulic)
  • Identifying and troubleshooting damaged electrical wiring when a shortage or severed wire occurs
  • Maintaining large, complicated facility gas hardware, high-pressure systems and pumps, and other ancillary pressure equipment, including pneumatic systems ranging from vacuum to 20,000psi
  • Assisting the HVAC team in maintaining the building HVAC equipment in order to keep climate control in the facility functioning properly when surges of work load occur
  • Fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries
