This Opportunity Bay West is seeking a motivated, part-time technician to support industrial hygiene and environmental health initiatives across a variety of facilities and projects nationwide. This role includes regular travel to client sites across the United States and offers hands-on fieldwork, technical reporting, and collaboration with clients and multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced setting.

Requirements

  • Associate degree (2-year program at a minimum) from an accredited institution in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Engineering, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related technical field that included 12 semester hours of industrial hygiene related courses.
  • Minimum 2 years’ work experience in industrial hygiene assessments and surveys.
  • Experience working with a wide range of exposure assessment sampling methods and relevant analytical methods including real-time instrumentation.
  • Experience with Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness System (DOEHRS) data management program.
  • Must be able to secure a company sponsored and government issued Common Access Card
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check and physical exam.
  • Demonstrated commitment to following safety protocols including use of appropriate PPE
  • Able to perform in a highly dynamic work environment, prioritize appropriately, and be highly responsive
  • Able to work productively with all levels of the organization
  • Physical Requirements – Light to Medium Work
  • Frequently required to stand, sit and/or walk for extended periods of time
  • Work environment can include high heat, high humidity, and extreme cold
  • Frequently lifting, carrying or exerting force on objects up to 50 pounds
  • Must be willing to travel to sites (shops and other maintenance facilities) across the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor’s degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health sciences, occupational and environmental health, toxicology, safety sciences, or related science; or a bachelor’s degree in a branch of engineering, physical science, or life science that included 12 semester hours in chemistry, including organic chemistry, and 18 additional semester hours of courses in any combination of chemistry, physics, engineering, health physics, environmental health, biostatistics, biology, physiology, toxicology, epidemiology, or industrial hygiene
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER with current 8-hour Refresher
  • OSHA 30-hour General Industry
  • Experience or demonstrated knowledge of Federal OSHA, NIOSH, USEPA, DOT, Radiation Safety, NFPA 70e, and other regulatory requirements
  • Technical writer well versed in drafting industrial hygiene planning document and reports.

Responsibilities

  • Audits programs and site conditions at facilities; documents observations; prepares written reports of findings with recommendations for improvement (as needed); and assists with follow-up on implementation
  • Reviews existing and proposed standards and assists with surveys of new and existing facilities
  • Assists with drafting planning documents, technical reports, field logs, and data entry
  • Supports industrial hygiene assessments by conducting field sampling, monitoring, and equipment setup under the direction of project or site management
  • Utilizes, calibrates, and maintains industrial hygiene field equipment in accordance with Bay West SOPs
  • Serves as a flexible, cross-disciplinary team member supporting environmental, safety, and industrial hygiene activities
  • Follows direction of site management while keeping safety in the forefront of all activities
  • Works effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Helps resolve issues as they arise in the field and communicates concerns to project leadership
  • Builds and maintains professional working relationships with clients, subcontractors, consultants, and facility occupants
