Industrial Field Service Mechatronics Technician Your day, at a glance You arrive on-site, greet the customer, and watch a machine run to spot the subtle signs of trouble. You trace the symptom to its source, open up the assembly, remove a failed component, and bring the line back up. Before you leave, you document what you did, note the parts used, and plan the next preventative maintenance window. Then it’s on to the next facility—sometimes across town, sometimes across the country, and at times across borders. What you'll tackle Perform both break/fix and preventative maintenance: observe equipment in operation, identify root causes, disassemble to access faulty parts, adjust mechanisms and control instruments, replace or repair components, and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems. Identify and source parts, supplies, and repair items needed to restore equipment and sustain maintenance plans. Work with minimal supervision while adhering to industry maintenance standards and best practices. Partner with customer personnel to execute maintenance, reliability, and PM procedures. Set up and operate machining equipment (e.g., lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools) to fabricate or repair parts; perform welding as needed. Follow customer contractor codes of conduct, housekeeping rules, and site-specific safety processes. Record all work in service reports and applicable management systems with clear, complete details. Use and interact with industrial control systems to analyze complex equipment issues, carry out maintenance, and resolve problems. Apply strong electrical, mechanical, and fluid power knowledge to diagnose and repair equipment. Pursue on-the-job training and self-directed technical study to advance your skills. Follow safety policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions, and guidelines; maintain situational awareness and recognize unsafe acts and conditions. What you bring High school diploma or GED. Associate degree with a technical focus plus 5 years of industry experience, or 7 years of relevant industry experience. Proficiency with basic and specialized hand tools. Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and fluid power systems; capable of analyzing problems, developing options, and executing repairs. Willingness and ability to travel extensively (local, national, and international). Preferred Preventative maintenance methods, precision measurement, mechanical alignment, and general process equipment maintenance experience. Exposure to PLCs, field devices, and electrical drive and motor systems.
