About The Position

The Industrial Engineer will support a small but dynamic vehicle manufacturing assembly plant by optimizing processes, enhancing productivity, and improving overall manufacturing efficiency. This role focuses on analyzing current operations, identifying waste, implementing lean manufacturing strategies, and supporting safe, high‑quality, and cost‑effective assembly operations. The ideal candidate thrives in a hands‑on production environment and enjoys collaborating across departments to solve problems and improve performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • 0 -3 years experience in manufacturing, preferably in automotive or vehicle assembly.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and process improvement tools.
  • Proficiency with time studies, line balancing, and workflow analysis.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and understand manufacturing specifications.
  • Experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret data and drive actions.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across production, engineering, and quality teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a small or low‑volume assembly environment.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MES systems.
  • Experience designing or optimizing mixed‑model production lines.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and improve assembly line workflows, workstation design, and material flow to increase throughput and reduce bottlenecks.
  • Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies to eliminate waste and reduce cycle times.
  • Conduct time studies, standard work analysis, and capacity planning to support daily production needs.
  • Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to reflect best practices.
  • Partner with production supervisors and operators to troubleshoot issues and improve assembly operations.
  • Evaluate ergonomic risks and recommend solutions to enhance safety and operator comfort.
  • Monitor production metrics and implement corrective actions to address inefficiencies or quality variances.
  • Design and optimize plant layouts, assembly cells, and workflow using CAD tools.
  • Support equipment selection, justification, installation, and validation for new tooling, fixtures, and machinery.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and engineering on preventive maintenance planning and equipment reliability improvements.
  • Analyze scrap, rework, and defects to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead cost‑reduction initiatives focused on labor, material usage, and operational efficiency.
  • Support new product introductions (NPI) by ensuring manufacturability and efficient assembly processes.
  • Collect and interpret production data to inform decision‑making and continuous improvement.
  • Develop dashboards and reports to track KPIs such as cycle time, efficiency, scrap, and labor utilization.
  • Present findings and recommendations to leadership and cross‑functional teams.
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
