About The Position

Confidential Industrial Electrician – Heavy Manufacturing Facility (Waukegan, IL Area | 3rd Shift) A long-standing, recession-resistant manufacturing company in the northern suburbs of Chicago is seeking a skilled Industrial Electrician to support operations on 3rd shift at a high-volume production facility. Position Overview The Industrial Electrician will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems supporting heavy manufacturing equipment in a fast-paced production environment. On 3rd shift, this individual will work with minimal supervision and must be comfortable diagnosing and resolving issues independently to keep production running. Note: Training will take place on 1st shift for several weeks (typically 1–3 months) before transitioning to 3rd shift.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2+ years of industrial/manufacturing electrical experience (3–5+ preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of NEC codes and electrical safety standards
  • Hands-on experience with 480V three-phase systems
  • Experience troubleshooting and working with VFDs and PLC inputs/outputs
  • Ability to run and install conduit
  • Experience reading schematics and ladder diagrams
  • Comfort working in a heavy industrial environment

Nice To Haves

  • Background in heavy manufacturing environments
  • Experience with natural gas burner systems
  • Strong hydraulic and pneumatic troubleshooting experience

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and maintain industrial electrical systems with a strong focus on 480V three-phase power
  • Install, run, and bend conduit for new equipment and repairs
  • Diagnose and repair sensors, wiring, motors, drives, and control components
  • Troubleshoot and program VFDs; replace servo motors and drives as needed
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, and mechanical drawings
  • Support preventative maintenance and inspections across electrical equipment
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems as part of plant maintenance
  • Work with production and engineering teams to minimize downtime
  • Maintain safety standards and follow electrical codes (NEC)
