About The Position

The Level Two Industrial Electrician is responsible for independently troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and maintaining electrical systems and automated equipment throughout the sawmill. This role supports production reliability by minimizing downtime and improving electrical system performance in a high-volume lumber manufacturing environment. This position requires intermediate industrial electrical experience and the ability to work with limited supervision.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2–5 years of industrial electrical experience (manufacturing or sawmill preferred).
  • Working knowledge of: Three-phase power systems Motor controls and starters Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) PLC systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar) Control circuits and relays
  • Ability to troubleshoot using multimeters, megohmmeters, and diagnostic tools.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime as required.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Climb ladders and work at heights.
  • Work in confined spaces when required.
  • Prolonged standing, walking, bending, and kneeling.
  • Ability to work in dusty, noisy, hot, or outdoor sawmill environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical degree or apprenticeship in Industrial Electrical or related field preferred.
  • 2–5 years of industrial electrical experience (manufacturing or sawmill preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair electrical failures on sawmill equipment including: Debarkers Head rigs Edgers Trimmers Conveyors Stacker systems Kilns and drying systems
  • Troubleshoot 120V–480V three-phase electrical systems.
  • Install and repair motors, motor starters, soft starters, and VFDs.
  • Troubleshoot PLC-controlled systems and input/output devices.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Install conduit, pull wire, and wire electrical panels.
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on electrical equipment.
  • Identify root causes of recurring electrical failures and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support equipment upgrades and electrical improvement projects.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to production breakdowns.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Follow and enforce Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Mentor Level One Electricians when needed.
