Weyerhaeuser’s Montana Wood Products is currently looking for an Industrial Electrician class 3 or better, to join our Columbia Falls MDF facility. A qualified candidate would have a thorough comprehensive knowledge of electrical equipment, processes, and techniques to safely repair, modify, install, and maintain the facility and high-tech manufacturing equipment. Electrician Advancement Program – Career Progression- Progressive training and position advancement from Trainee through Class I/EET, combining coursework, hands‑on skills, and performance‑based advancement. This position is for a Electrician III or Better. Electrician III – Developing Technical Skills- $36.56/hour: Builds on foundational knowledge with increased responsibility for troubleshooting, motors, controls, PLC basics, and instrumentation. Requires advanced coursework, hands‑on experience, and the ability to work more independently. Electrician II – Advanced Technical Skills- $37.64/hour: Focuses on mastering PLCs, HMI systems, VFDs, instrumentation, and process control. Electricians at this level manage small projects, perform complex troubleshooting, and support production systems with minimal oversight. Electrician I – Senior Electrician-$39.83/hour: Recognized technical expert responsible for advanced PLC/HMI programming, process control systems, instrumentation, and project leadership. Serves as a mentor, safety leader, and key technical resource for the mill. Electrician I / EET (Engineering Electrical Technician)- $41.47/hour: Specialized senior role with deep expertise in automation, SCADA, networking, and large‑scale projects. Leads system design, programming, vendor coordination, and technical standards across the facility.

Requirements

  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience as an Industrial Electrician required.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Working knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • PLC programming skills in RSLogix 5, RSLogix 5000, and Studio 5000
  • Block Transfer and Analog Module configuration and scaling
  • Program Management Instructions – JSRs
  • Messaging, Produced/Consumed Tags, Channel / Node Configuration
  • Troubleshoot and repair VFDs and Soft Starts
  • Understand Ethernet networks and be able to replace media and configure modules.
  • Dissect and search back variables from FactoryTalk View control screens to PLC logic.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree in Electrical Maintenance preferred

Responsibilities

  • Commitment to actively promoting and exhibiting a caring safety culture.
  • Support manufacturing by maximizing plant uptime and providing support for all facility systems in a safe manner, while contributing to corporate, plant, and departmental goals
  • Work with a team of electricians and millwrights to troubleshoot and repair complex electrical problems, deliver preventative and routine maintenance on plant equipment, create innovative solutions to complex issues and work on capital projects.
  • Perform maintenance tasks involving troubleshooting, repairing, upgrading and installations of equipment and production electrical systems with minimal supervision or direction.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and ladder logic.
  • Exemplify and promote exceptional safety standards, including but not limited to performing independent safety audits and attending monthly safety meetings.
  • Manage work orders; modify equipment specifications; track, print/issue, and update PM’s (preventative maintenance) through SAP.
  • Sense of urgency in terms of maximizing production and minimizing down time is necessary in this type of manufacturing environment.
  • Tasks performed involve work with equipment and materials that require familiarity with formal safety procedures and ability to follow these procedures to maintain the safety of the work environment.
