The Individual Giving Manager is responsible for managing and growing UBH’s portfolio of individual donors. This role is a critical engine for donor retention, upgrades, and pipeline development into mid-level and major gifts. The Individual Giving Manager will design and execute engagement, stewardship, and solicitation strategies that deepen donor relationships, increase lifetime value, and support UBH’s overall fundraising goals. The successful candidate is strategic, relational, data-driven, and deeply committed to UBH’s impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Business, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in the nonprofit industry, with at least 3 years of experience specifically in nonprofit fundraising, including progressive responsibility and a proven record of securing visits with prospective donors, and soliciting, closing, and stewarding mid and major gifts.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to understand the complexity of homelessness and clearly articulate the nuances of diverse subpopulations in a concise, compelling, and donor-friendly manner.
  • Strong organizational skills. Ability to develop long-term plans, set objectives, and track progress towards achieving objectives. Familiarity with the concepts of moves management required.
  • Personal initiative, curiosity about people, and a sense of humor. Friendly, outgoing, and collaborative approach and a strong team-oriented style.
  • Proficiency with office technology and information systems (including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and donor databases, preferably Salesforce.
  • Passion for mission and work of UBH.
  • Available for occasional work on weekends

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 150 donors, overseeing cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Develop individualized donor plans and annual giving goals based on research, giving history, and donor capacity.
  • Conduct donor and prospect research to inform engagement strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and timely donor records, contact reports, and follow-up documentation in the database.
  • Serve as a frontline fundraiser alongside the CDO.
  • Secure major, leadership, and planned gifts that advance immediate and long-term revenue goals.
  • Drive year-over-year growth in individual giving revenue and donor participation.
  • Identify and qualify donors for progression into the mid-level and major gifts pipeline.
  • Support efforts to increase donor retention, upgrade giving, and grow lifetime donor value.
  • Partner with the CDO to strategically transition donors with higher capacity.
  • Ensure every donor feels seen, valued, and connected to UBH’s impact.
  • Lead stewardship efforts, including personalized communications, impact reporting and invitations to tours and events.
  • Manage thank-you calls, acknowledgements, and personalized stewardship
  • Support 5–8 annual cultivation events for portfolio donors.
  • Execute direct response campaigns including year-end appeal, Giving Tuesday, and seasonal appeals.
  • Support segmentation, messaging, and follow-up strategies to maximize results.
  • Assist in planning and executing the annual appeal and cultivation calendar.
  • Maintain accurate donor records, notes, and moves management in Salesforce.
  • Record all interactions and post-meeting reports promptly in database and communicate all aspects of meeting, from set-up to follow-up, to other team members as needed.
  • Track portfolio performance and progress toward goals, response rates, retention, and revenue growth.
  • Provide regular portfolio and campaign performance reports.
  • Contribute positively to a respectful, collaborative, and mission-focused work environment.
  • Attend UBH events and support additional duties as assigned.
