We are seeking a compassionate, reliable Independent Living Services (ILS) Instructor to support an individual with Mild Intellectual Disability in developing greater independence and quality of life. Services will be provided during afternoon hours and will focus on, home management, and medical appointments. The ideal candidate is patient, encouraging, and able to provide consistent support while promoting independence. Primary Goals of Support Increase social skills and confidence in interacting with others Improve home management skills, including organization and cleaning Support safe and consistent medication management Encourage participation in community activities and appointments Key Responsibilities Social Skills & Community Engagement Support the individual in developing appropriate social skills and confidence Encourage participation in community activities, outings, and social opportunities Assist with planning and attending appointments or activities as appropriate Home Management Provide guidance and hands-on support with room organization and cleaning Help establish simple routines and strategies to improve consistency with household tasks Use motivation strategies and positive reinforcement to encourage follow-through Medication Support Assist with organizing medications into a pillbox as directed Support reminders and routines for taking medications at scheduled times Help reduce barriers related to managing multiple prescriptions and schedules (Note: This role does not involve administering medication, only organizational support.) Transportation Support Provide transportation support as needed, as the individual prefers to ride with a driver Assist with planning transportation to support engagement in social activities and necessary appointments Identified Challenges to Address Consistency & Motivation: Difficulty maintaining regular routines for tasks such as cleaning and organization Transportation Limitations: Preference for having a driver may limit opportunities for social engagement or appointments Medication Management Barriers: Remembering multiple prescriptions and dosing times presents a significant challenge without support Desired Qualifications Experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities Strong organizational and communication skills Patient, dependable, and encouraging approach Ability to support independence while respecting personal preferences Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if transportation support is required) Work Environment One-on-one support in the individual’s home and community Afternoon-only schedule Collaborative, supportive, and goal-oriented setting Requirements Required Qualifications & Compliance Experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities preferred Strong organizational and communication skills Patient, dependable, and encouraging approach Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if transportation support is required) Two forms of valid identification Current CPR and First Aid certification Live Scan fingerprint clearance TB test clearance Salary Description $21-$23
