Independent Living Service Provider (Part Time)
About The Position
We are seeking a patient, dependable, and supportive Independent Living Services (ILS) Instructor to provide afternoon services for an individual with Autism and a Psychiatric Disorder. This role focuses on building independence, improving daily living skills, and increasing meaningful participation in the community. The ideal candidate is encouraging, adaptable, and comfortable providing structured support, reminders, and hands-on guidance when needed. Primary Goals of Support Improve personal care and hygiene routines Support home management and household organization Develop financial literacy and basic budgeting skills Encourage community engagement and participation in activities
Requirements
- Experience supporting individuals with autism and/or psychiatric disorders preferred
- Patient, reliable, and supportive communication style
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to provide structure, encouragement, and hands-on assistance
- Two forms of valid identification
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
- Live Scan fingerprint clearance
- Current TB test clearance
Responsibilities
- Personal Care Support daily personal hygiene routines and self-care tasks
- Provide reminders, encouragement, and positive reinforcement
- Promote independence while offering assistance as needed
- Home Management Assist with maintaining a clean and organized living space
- Help establish and follow simple home management routines
- Break tasks into manageable steps to improve consistency
- Financial Literacy Support basic budgeting, money management, and tracking expenses
- Assist with understanding financial concepts using clear, step-by-step instruction
- Adapt teaching methods as needed, including paper-based tools if digital platforms are challenging
- Community Engagement Encourage participation in community activities, events, or appointments
- Assist with planning outings and accessing community resources
- Provide support with scheduling and transportation coordination as appropriate
