The In School Suspension Monitor supervises students assigned to ISS and provides assistance with the completion of assignments. This includes requesting assignments from classroom teachers, ensuring students complete all class work, and returning completed assignments. The role also involves providing personal counseling to students to modify poor behaviors, instructing assigned classes, planning programs of study to meet individual student needs, and creating a conducive learning environment. The monitor is responsible for encouraging appropriate classroom behavior, guiding the learning process towards curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for lessons, and communicating these objectives to students. Additionally, the position requires availability to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
