About The Position

This position serves as an Aide for In-School Suspension (ISS) and Alternative Education Placement (AEP) at both High School and Junior High levels. The primary purpose is to assist with ISS/AEP duties as assigned. Key responsibilities include supervising students' work, administering tests, providing tutoring as needed, and overseeing character education activities as directed by campus administration. The role requires maintaining strict discipline to ensure a controlled learning environment, assisting with obtaining and delivering student assignments, attending faculty and in-service meetings, and maintaining student confidentiality. The individual must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.

Requirements

• College hours for Title I campus 48 required or 464 on the ParaPro test
• College hours, high school diploma or GED for Non-Title I campus
• Proficient keyboarding, word processing, and file maintenance skills
• Ability to maintain strict discipline
• Maintain an effective working environment
• Communicate and work with students
• Ability to work independently
• Experience in working with students
• Valid Texas educational aide certificate
• Additional Qualification for Title I Campus: College hours, 48 minimum or score of 464 on the ParaPro test

Responsibilities

• Keep attendance and records of students entering and leaving the campus ISS.
• Supervise students’ work which includes administering tests and tutoring, as needed.
• Oversee character education activities as prescribed by campus administration.
• Maintain strict discipline in order to provide students with a strictly controlled atmosphere for learning.
• Assist in obtaining assignments from teachers and delivering student work to teachers.
• Attend all faculty and in-service meetings.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student membership in ISS.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
