The Pennsylvania Natural Heritage Program at the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy is seeking an iMapInvasives Information Assistant for a fulltime contractfunded term position for 18 months. The iMapInvasives Information Assistant will manage records for the iMapInvasives Program database and assist with various program tasks. This position will be based in the WPC Pittsburgh Office.

Requirements

  • Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in biology, conservation, or a related scientific field
  • Experience with invasive species and identifying characteristics of a selection of taxa groups
  • Experience working with spreadsheets and relational databases, such as Microsoft Excel and Access
  • Must be detailoriented and have accurate data handling skills
  • Must have a cooperative work ethic and good interpersonal and communications skills
  • Must have good reasoning and problemsolving skills
  • To be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with GIS software to create features and tables and produce maps

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the procurement and processing of information, and entering data into the database
  • Assists with confirmation of records including identification of invasive species, location, and record details
  • Assists with researching information about invasive species
  • Assists with communications to database users
  • Assists with support for trainings and outreach
