The Paraprofessional Instructor will be responsible for providing contextualized training and supervision to learners enrolled in the Paraprofessional course through Adult Education. The instructor will be expected to plan and execute classroom procedures and lessons to ensure completion of the Parapro course curriculum and successful passing of the ETS Parapro assessment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in education or Adult Education with a valid AR teacher certificate or a Master’s degree in a related field (upon approval).
• At least five years prior experience in K-12 settings as an administrator, teacher, or paraprofessional.
• Thorough understanding of Arkansas Parapro assessment requirements and paraprofessional roles in local K-12 school settings.

Responsibilities

• Implement a contextualized curriculum that aligns with college/career readiness standards, combining adult education with workforce preparation.
• Instruct students in reading, writing, and mathematics in competency areas required to pass the state's Paraprofessional exam.
• Teach strategies for behavior management, student supervision, and supporting instructional activities.
• Guide students in learning how to create a positive learning environment, use technology, and provide one-on-one or small-group support.
• Administer quizzes and assessments to track progress and provide feedback on student readiness for the Praxis certification exam.
• Work with Adult Education instructors to deliver academic skills-related instruction.
• Assist course participants with registration for the Parapro Praxis exam.
• Collaborate with local school district hiring officials to transition course participants into OJT experiences and school employment upon becoming licensed paraprofessionals.
