Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education or Adult Education with a valid AR teacher certificate or a Master’s degree in a related field (upon approval).
  • At least five years prior experience in K-12 settings as an administrator, teacher, or paraprofessional.
  • Thorough understanding of Arkansas Parapro assessment requirements and paraprofessional roles in local K-12 school settings.

Responsibilities

  • Implement a contextualized curriculum that aligns with college/career readiness standards, combining adult education with workforce preparation.
  • Instruct students in reading, writing, and mathematics in competency areas required to pass the state's Paraprofessional exam.
  • Teach strategies for behavior management, student supervision, and supporting instructional activities.
  • Guide students in learning how to create a positive learning environment, use technology, and provide one-on-one or small-group support.
  • Administer quizzes and assessments to track progress and provide feedback on student readiness for the Praxis certification exam.
  • Work with Adult Education instructors to deliver academic skills-related instruction.
  • Assist course participants with registration for the Parapro Praxis exam.
  • Collaborate with local school district hiring officials to transition course participants into OJT experiences and school employment upon becoming licensed paraprofessionals.
