IDD / Special Needs Caregiver
About The Position
BAYADA Home Health Care is seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to work in Union County, PA. These special needs caregivers work one-on-one in home and community settings, acting as companions and mentors for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities (I/DD) to help them achieve their full potential. The role is open to individuals with no prior healthcare experience through the Habilitation Apprentice Program, which provides paid training to help individuals gain skills to support people with I/DD, such as autism, cerebral palsy, and Down syndrome, in living more independent and purposeful lives.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 18 years of age or older
Nice To Haves
- One year experience working with intellectual and development disabilities
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care assistance (dressing, grooming, basic hygiene)
- Accompany clients on errands and appointments
- Spend time on the client’s favorite hobbies and activities
- Assist with everyday tasks, such as meal preparation
- Participate in community integration activities
