About The Position

Access interns observe, assist, and learn from experienced staff in a variety of settings. In order to intern with us, you must be enrolled in a degree program that will grant you credit hours for your internship. To be considered for an internship placement with Access, please submit a cover letter with your application that includes the school you are attending, your degree program, details on your internship requirements, and the Access program(s) of interest to you. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Interns will observe and support Direct Support Professionals who provide assistance with activities of daily living, including but not limited to personal care, meal preparation, medication administration, and health maintenance. Direct Support Professionals also support individuals with developing independent living skills, including, but not limited to money management, community integration and appropriate social skills. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONAL / ORGANIZATIONAL SUPPORT: Interns working with and observing Direct Support Professionals will have the opportunity to be a part of an interdisciplinary team (clinical staff, nurses, families, advocates, etc.) providing services to adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities. Interns will complete tasks and provide support under the direction of a Supervisor. PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS: These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to perform the job's essential functions successfully. Able to work in open space floor plan Must be capable to move throughout work day (and follow individuals throughout the community) Work alongside co-workers within 3 feet Must be able to move in tight spaces Occasional lifting of > _25+ pounds

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a degree program that will grant you credit hours for your internship

  • AS, BS and BA Level Internships in Human Services fields
