About The Position

The Hyundai Card Exchange Visitor at The Museum of Modern Art is supported by a multiyear partnership with Hyundai Card that promotes curatorial and artistic exchange with Korean art and culture through exhibitions, scholarly research, and travel programs. The Hyundai Card Exchange Visitor Program offers an opportunity for an emerging or midcareer curator with deep knowledge of Korean modern and contemporary art and culture to interact with colleagues across the Museum of Modern Art, gain a deeper understanding of museum practices, share their own knowledge with the Museum’s staff and audiences, and conduct their own research with access to MoMA’s archival and scholarly resources, as well as those broadly available in New York City. This is a full-time, twelve (12) month opportunity at MoMA in New York, New York beginning June 2026 and ending June 2027. Highlights of the Exchange Visitor Program include: Participate in conversations and shadow curatorial meetings related to the Hyundai Card First Look series, a program at MoMA that highlights recent acquisitions across all curatorial departments; and the Hyundai Card Digital Wall, a spotlight for digital art and artists using emerging technologies, located in the Museum’s Gund Lobby. Receive mentorship and guidance from an established MoMA staff member who is assigned to lead First Look or Digital Wall projects. Support guided bibliographic and object research, draft loan and other correspondence, and prepare related onsite and online materials for exhibitions and programs. Assist in supervised research and preparation for potential acquisitions for the Museum Collection, including biographical and bibliographic research, maintenance of files, communication with dealers, galleries, collectors, and artists, as necessary. Participate in visits to other galleries and museums, stay informed of current publications and the latest research conducted by others in the museum industry, and share thought ideas with MoMA staff. Participate in conversations and dialogues with MoMA staff and invited guests to explore new ideas on public engagement in a museum context, arts leadership, and the role of cultural institutions. ● Explore opportunities to publish on MoMA’s digital, onsite, and printed platforms. Build relationships and enhance networks with MoMA professionals, as well as distinguished outside scholars, artists, historians, critics, and other experts.
